The LN229 cell line was established in 1979, with cells derived from a patient with a glioblastoma in the right frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes. The cells exhibit p53 mutations, and there may be deletions in the p16 and p14ARF tumor suppressor genes. They all contain the wild-type PTEN gene.
