RKO cell line is a poorly differentiated colon cancer cell line. RKO cells contain wild-type p53 but lack human thyroid receptor nuclear receptors (h-TRβ1). The level of p53 protein in RKO cells is higher than that in RKO-E6 cells, and RKO cells are the parental cell line of RKO-E6 cells and RKO-AS45-1 cells. RKO cells form tumors in nude mice and form colonies in soft agar.
