ES-2 cell line was derived from a surgical tumor specimen of a 45 year old black female, which is a poorly differentiated ovarian clear cell carcinoma. ES-2 cells initially grew in soft agar; ES-2 cells form tumors in nude mice. ES-2 cells exhibit low to moderate tolerance to various chemotherapy drugs, including doxorubicin, cisplatin, carboplatin, etoposide, etc; ES-2 cells express low levels of P-glycoprotein.
