MDA-MB-468 cell line was isolated by Cailleau·R et al. in 1977 from the pleural effusion of a 51-year-old black female with metastatic breast cancer. Although the donor tissue was heterozygous for the G6PD allele, MDA-MB-468 cells consistently exhibited the G6PD A phenotype.
