SK-BR-3 [SKBR3] cell line was isolated by Trempe·G and Old·L·J in 1970 from the pleural effusion of a 43-year-old Caucasian female breast cancer patient. The ultrastructural characteristics of SK-BR-3 [SKBR3] cells include microfilaments and desmosomes, glycogen granules, large lysosomes, and bundled cytoplasmic filaments; SK-BR-3 [SKBR3] cells overexpress HER2/c-erb-2 gene products.
